Learning with ES4A

How do you learn with Ethnic Studies 4 All? This will provide you with a guide of how to best utilize Ethnic Studies 4 All to receive an Ethnic Studies education. You do not need to pay to learn with Ethnic Studies for all, though we do encourage that you financially support the writers of books and articles that we cover. Otherwise, you should be able to learn either independently or as a group.

This is a suggested guide, you do not need to follow it, but it is the process of which Ethnic Studies 4 All was designed to work.

Learning the Topic

Starting off, we provide YouTube videos and infographics to help learn about these texts. These material will summarize the ideas presented in book or article. Spend your time watching the video or reading through the infographics. These will provide you with the preliminary knowledge of the topics at hand.

Comprehension, Reflection, and Application

Provided with the reading materials is the reading guide. This reading guide is used to help comprehend, reflect on, and apply what you just learn. You can complete the comprehension questions as you watch or go through the infographic, or review the topic by going over the questions afterwards.

Once you are done with making sure you comprehend the topic, you can proceed to the reflection questions. These questions will inquire about yourself and your experiences. You can go through the questions by yourself, or if learning as a group, discuss together how the topic is seen in your life. This section is not always included, as some topics will not be as applicable in your life as others (such as learning about history).

Lastly, proceed to the application questions. These questions are open-ended questions with the goal of expanding past the topic at hand. Much more, it might give you the space to critique the topic. The questions might be the hardest to answer and might require more time to process and think through. Often times, you might need to refer and learn about other topics before being able to answer the question, that is to say, you will need to go over other texts and learn about those before being able to fully answer the application questions.

Continuing the Conversation

Learning about Ethnic Studies does not stop once you finish the reading guide. In fact, going through the reading materials is the start of the conversation. To keep on learning, you need to find time to go through and see how these topics you learn in this space is seen in real life. This means watching documentaries, following the news, or even having conversations about race with family and friends. Ethnic Studies 4 All offers you a centralize place to start learning about a topic, but the world around you will be the means of which you continually learn.
