FAQ
Who is Ethnic Studies 4 All for?
Ethnic Studies 4 All, as the name states, is for everyone! The goal is to make Ethnic Studies as accessible as possible. The Ethnic Studies curriculum is often limited in that it is only available in college settings or some school districts. The hope is to make this education available for everyone, whether it be children, teenagers, or adults across and socio-economic status.
Why learn ethnic studies?
Ethnic Studies is a field of study that applies to everyone. It as an area of study centers race, racism, and racial identity at the center of various other disciplines.
It provides a lens of understanding about topics in fields of study here the center of knowledge either focused on and/or produced by White people. As a result, subjects like history will center Black histories, Indigenous histories, etc. in contrast to the very White-heavy history learned in a K-12 education (and on). As a result of this, we can take the theories and frameworks of Ethnic Studies and apply it to many different aspects of life and help use it to move towards a more racially-just, and eventually, liberated society.
Most importantly, Ethnic Studies will help you find out about yourself and others. Identity is an essential part of Ethnic Studies. Not only will you be learning about your own identities, but about the identities of those around you whether it be loved ones, co-workers, or friends.
